Don’t Be That Guy campaign relaunched in Canada

Police in Edmonton, Canada, are relaunching a campaign to raise awareness of sexual assault. The catch – the campaign focuses on men, not women who have already been assaulted.

Posters with messages defining what consent is – and isn’t – will be posted around the city. They feature various scenarios, including women passed out and men lurking nearby to take advantage of the situation. One of the posters even features a gay couple who appear to be arguing over whether or not to have sex.

I think we need more campaigns like this one. It is honest, in your face, and targets the root cause of rape – misconceptions men hold (or use as an excuse) to commit rape and acts of sexual assault.
