Normally I refuse to keep up with celebrity lifestyles because they are so fake and set examples that decent, ordinary people glorify.
The Rihanna/Chris Brown/Karrueche Tran stuff is a perfect example. So many people, especially tweens and teenagers, have been exposed to this you can’t help but worry what effect it might have on them. Honestly, I think that all three of them are probably too young to even think about getting married – despite rumors that Rihanna’s father supposedly gave her and Chris his blessing to get married! If that’s the case, it’s no shock that she keeps pining for an abusive man – it starts at home, many experts say.
What I dislike is the fact that Chris Brown is being portrayed as being able to have his cake, eat it too, and then some, since rumors keep coming out that he is fooling around with other women besides Rihanna and Karrueche. He seems to suffer no consequences at all, and has the same woman he battered, and several others, chasing him around all at once.
I don’t doubt that this will affect both men and women’s perceptions of relationships negatively. The message this whole situation keeps sending is “If you withstand his bullsh*t longer than the other women do, you’ll keep the guy.”
Personally, if I ever get that desperate for company, I’ll go out and buy a dog.
