PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – As the President gets sworn in to a second term on Monday; a take on the pulse of the American public
The key numbers in the nationwide CBS Survey are 59 and 35. Fifty-nine percent of the people are optimistic about the second Obama term while 35 percent believe the economy remains issue number one.
There are strong feelings on the debt limit. Seventy-seven percent want the debt ceiling raised and are against default.
But here’s the interesting finding in this poll. Sixty percent want spending cuts to go along with the raising of the debt. Eighty-four percent want compromise between the White House and Congress.
In the blame game, 65 percent blame the Congressional Republicans – 31 percent blame the White House.
